Dental implants
A secure, long-lasting way to replace missing teeth and restore confidence in your smile.
A strong, fixed replacement for missing teeth.
A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. Once it has healed securely into the jawbone, a natural-looking replacement tooth is attached on top. The finished result can look as though the tooth is emerging naturally from the gum, much like a real tooth.
Why choose dental implants?
Dental implants can provide a highly effective and natural-feeling way to restore missing teeth while helping to protect the rest of your mouth.
Fixed in place
Your replacement tooth is securely supported by the implant and does not need to be removed for eating or cleaning.
Natural appearance
The final tooth is carefully designed to blend with the shape, colour and proportions of your surrounding teeth.
Protect neighbouring teeth
Unlike a bridge, a dental implant can replace a missing tooth without relying on neighbouring teeth for support.
Supports the jawbone
The implant sits within the jawbone and can help maintain bone around the area where the tooth has been lost.
Eat with confidence
A secure implant-supported tooth can restore comfortable biting and chewing.
Designed for the long term
With good oral hygiene and regular maintenance, dental implants can last for decades, and many remain healthy and functional for the rest of a patient's life.

Implant placement
The titanium implant is carefully placed into the jaw under local anaesthetic.
Healing
The implant is given time to integrate securely with the surrounding bone.

Dental implant questions
How long does dental implant treatment take?
Treatment commonly takes several months from initial planning through to fitting the final tooth. Healing time varies between patients and more complex cases can take longer.
Is having a dental implant painful?
The implant is normally placed under local anaesthetic so the area is numb during treatment. It is common to experience some soreness or swelling afterwards, which can usually be managed with routine pain relief and post-operative care.
How long can a dental implant last?
Dental implants are designed as a long-term replacement for missing teeth. With good oral hygiene and regular professional maintenance, implants can last for decades and many remain in place for the rest of a patient's life. Their longevity depends on factors including gum health, smoking, general health and how well they are looked after. The crown or bridge attached to the implant may sometimes need repair or replacement over time even when the implant itself remains healthy.
Am I too old for dental implants?
Age alone does not usually prevent someone from having dental implants. Your general health, oral health and the amount and quality of available bone are typically more important.
What happens if I don't have enough bone?
Some patients have reduced bone volume after a tooth has been missing for a long time. Depending on the situation, additional procedures such as bone grafting may sometimes be considered. Sahra will explain this if it is relevant to you.
How do I look after a dental implant?
Implants need regular cleaning just like natural teeth. Maintaining excellent oral hygiene, attending regular examinations and seeing the hygienist when advised are important for keeping the gums and tissues around the implant healthy.
