Teeth Whitening

You may have an important event coming up, such as a wedding or holiday, that you want to look your best for or it may be that your teeth have gradually become discoloured. Whatever the reason, teeth whitening, when provided by your dentist, is a safe and easy way to improve your smile. You can expect stunning, long lasting results that will really make a difference to how you look and feel.

How does teeth whitening work?

The first step is an assessment of your dental health to ensure you are suitable for whitening treatment. We also assess your existing tooth colour and show you examples of what colours you would be able to achieve following the whitening.

We then take a digital scan to record the shape of your teeth and gums in order to make your custom whitening mouth trays.

Then, from the comfort of your home and when it suits your schedule, you can begin the process of whitening your teeth. It is a simple procedure that involves applying a gel to your whitening trays. The trays make sure that the whitening gel is evenly and safely transforming the colour of your teeth.

You can either wear these for short periods during the day or while you sleep. Teeth are whitened gradually so you can reach your desired tooth shade and stop whitening when you are happy. It usually takes around two weeks to achieve a whiter smile.

How long will teeth whitening last?

The effects of tooth whitening are long lasting though teeth will slowly darker again as you consume staining foods and drinks. Studies have shown that two years after whitening, you still retain 80% of the whitening benefit. This reduces to 50% after 10 years of tooth whitening.

You can refresh any lost whiteness by treating your teeth to a top-up. You just need to buy some more whitening gel and use this with your existing mouth trays. It also helps to stay on top of your oral hygiene, avoid smoking and watch what you eat and drink.

We only use high-quality whitening gel designed for dental professionals and carefully oversee the whitening process – a superior and much safer way to make a real difference to your smile.
